As the world grapples with conflicts, two Italian associations, Colors for Peace and Peace Run Italy, are promoting a message of peace from children worldwide for the seventh consecutive year. These innocent witnesses express their rejection of war through drawings from 248 nations. Colors for Peace, despite its English name, is an Italian association born in Sant’Anna di Stazzema, a symbol of wartime tragedy. Peace Run, on the other hand, has Indian roots, inspired by the philosophy of non-violence. Both emphasize that peace begins within us.
The event takes place annually at the Colosseum, providing children with an international platform. The Director of the Archaeological Park has supported the initiative since 2018, attracting global media attention. In 2019, the event reached its peak with the participation of the UN Secretary-General, becoming the fourth most viewed news online.
This year, the exhibition will be inaugurated by the President of the Capitoline Assembly, and a ceremony will be held with institutions and embassies. The event deserves a grand celebration, but the associations’ limited resources often prevent its realization. Nevertheless, they continue to promote peace with initiatives such as the exhibitions at the Paris Olympics and the G7 Young in Friuli.
Many people have approached the Associations with voluntary actions. Among them, a special mention goes to Daniel Salvi who, with his art, manages to create unique and special graphics for each event.
We look forward to seeing you all at the Colosseum, Via Sacra, on September 21st at 3:00 pm.
